All the fun of the Village fair!

Tug of War at the village fair

Each year in July Sidlesham village (along with many other villages) hold a village fair to raise funds – in this case for the Church. Village fairs are fabuous events! Everyone is welcome – whether or not you are church-minded.

There is the dog show, various raffles and bottle stalls, plant and toy stalls and the very popular cake stall of course! The book stall is huge – and has everything you can imagine for very little money.

Caroline’s icecreams have a van there with her award-winning organic icecream made at the organic farm next door.

The Chichester City Band comes to play for the afternoon and then there is a tug of war against them – with anyone who wants to join in! The Band always wins by the way!

Coconut shies, trolley runs, splat-the-rat and catch-a-duck are games everyone can have a go at too. There are fruit and veg and flower competitions.

When it gets too hot for everyone there is the cake and tea tent as well. The homemade cakes are brilliant and the ladies do a fabulous job serving everyone and washing up afterwards.

The Church tower also gets opened up for the afternoon – and is well worth a walk up to look over the Peninsula and to Pagham Harbour too.
