How to get to Chichester and West Sussex from London.
West Sussex and the South Downs are virtually on London’s doorstep, so getting here couldn’t be simpler. In just 120 minutes you have left the hustle and bustle of the capital far behind and passed through Gatwick, Horsham and Arundel. If it is daylight – enjoy the views of the South Downs too. Sometimes the train divides at Barnham – part goes to Bognor Regis, and the rest goes to Chichester and Portsmouth Harbour. “Make sure you are in the correct part of the train!”
There are direct train services from Victoria and London Bridge. There are also good connecting cross-country services and excellent road links. 
If you are planning to visit us by train, it pays to book in advance. Return travel with Southern Rail can cost as little as £10.
You can bring your bike on the train, but do be aware that at peak times i.e. between 07:00 and 10:00 and 16:00 and 19:00 Monday to Friday, Southern Rail won’t allow non-folding cycles to be carried on their main routes. For all other trains, regular cycles may be carried, although bike space is limited and cannot be reserved. For more information, visit the Southern Rail website. Another way to discover everything the area has to offer is by a Discovery Ticket. This gives you unlimited bus travel for the day. It’s a great way to explore the South Downs National Park and the area beyond. You simply hop off at places en route during the day and hop back on the bus again.
