Great days out for all the family down on the Farm – fun, educational and usually food involved too!
SUNDAY 5th June is the date to put in the diary for 2016!
We have LOCAL farms who will be opening on the Sunday to encourage visitors to find out more about
- Where our food comes from
- What is takes to run livestock
- How to run an arable farm
- What other things farms do – ie how do they diversify?
- What environmental things go on which you may not realise
- and the answers to a host more questions!…
This is your chance to get those questions answered… down on the farm… “straight from the horses mouth”!
Many farms have trailer rides taking place, a meet the animals experience, food and drink (or organic icecream!!) for sale, or a walking tour – either self directed or with the farmer. Often they have some disabled access too!
Come prepared with your willies and sensible clothing – they aren’t all mud-free!! and ready to have some FUN!!
Here are some other facts which you might find interesting – test your knowledge!!
Below is a list of the local farms who are participating in the OpenFarmSunday and some other hints and tips!.
Caroline’s Dairy at Marsh and Chalder Farm in Sidlesham is the nearest – and they make delicious organic icecream from their dairy cows! In fact it has won numerous awards and accolades! We can’t get enough of it! Our fav flavour – probably the naturally orange coloured sea buckthorn, but you can only get this one in local restaurants.
So… what are you waiting for! Put the date in your diary… and if you need somewhere to stay – we are here!
