The farming year is turning – it’s Autumn

Autumn Activities local to Chichester

The mornings are getting much darker, the evenings too and the soil is cooling.

Its the time of year for warming stews, evenings by the TV with crumpets and Marmite plus the big TV shows. Its a cosy time of year!

We have had a beautiful Autumn but fields are now getting their Autumn / Winter use as the silage has been cut for the last time locally – and has just been spread with muck and then ploughed in and re-seeded all within a few days! Amazing equipment to play with though!

It was mainly worked over the later day / evening so no gulls about either!

The fields are being harvested still – locally there are potatoes and sweetcorn and fields of grass (rye) for silage, and then they are being reseeded for the winter too.

This means that the wildlife is becoming more exposed – the many deer are more visible regularly and the migratory birds are also passing through. All the house Martins and Swallows have now left but there are others passing through – often using Selsey Bill and our 3 local harbours are staging posts and recognisable landmarks for them.

Blessed with our harbours nearby we have some sensational dog walks / cycle routes to use… and there are some local pubs to use too – for pit stops too.

School half term also brings extra activities at the local attractions – from the various outdoor Museums – with childrens’ activities.

I have also noticed that there are some more places locally who do the most amazing cream teas – so if you are thinking of a sumptious treat – get in touch for the locations from me!

Well, I hope that inspires. If you are looking for a short weekend break or over the school holidays get in touch directly – so I can help your planning and you will save money with #BookDirect.   😉

Happy Autumn!

Gayle and Echo.

PS – DO forward this onto any friends who may be interested in the local activities going on. Thank you.
